Container Seals-Significance And Types

CONTAINER SEALS

Container seals are single use door locks used to secure goods containers. Container seals are designed to provide a defense against unauthorized access, tampering, and theft, thereby protecting the contents of the container and ensuring the safe transportation of cargo.

Whether by land, sea, or air, these seals provide a visible indication of any potential breaches or tampering attempts, thereby deterring theft and unauthorized access.

Heavy-duty container seals are designed to withstand natural elements and last the entire voyage of the container until it is removed by the customer at the destination.

SIGNIFICANCE OF CONTAINER SEALS

Container seals are used to secure the container doors after completion of loading the cargo.

It is a necessity by government regulators, ports, and importers/exporters that all FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) containers are sealed during transport.

Container seals protect your goods from harsh weather conditions, as they ensure that the doors are tightly closed, thereby preventing the elements such as rain, sun etc., from getting in. The container seals also acts as an evidence that your cargo has been handled by an authorized personnel.

As security concerns continue to grow, investing in customized Container seals will provide organizations with the peace of mind necessary to protect their assets and integrity.

By leveraging the benefits of high-security seals, businesses can safeguard their operations and build trust with their customers, ultimately contributing to their success in an increasingly competitive landscape.

As a simple and effective security measure, Container seals has played a positive role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of the global supply chain, as well as promoting international trade and global integration.

TYPES OF CONTAINER SEALS

There are different types of Container seals. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and price range. Each seal has a unique alphanumeric identification number that is used to confirm that it has not been changed during the container’s voyage.

However, care has to be taken while noting seal numbers, as different types of seals may carry the same seal number, although this can happen only very rarely.

The Bill of lading includes the container seal number for verification by port authorities, port customs and the customer receiving the cargo.

  • Bolt Seals: Bolt seals are made of heavy-duty steel, coated in tough weather-resistant, anti-corrosive plastic. It consists of a metal pin that is driven into a plastic-coated steel barrel, forming a one-time lock and tamper-proof container seal. They are the safest and the most commonly used container seal.

  • Plastic seals: Plastic seals are usually made of Polypropylene plastic through one-time injection molding. They have good heat resistance and corrosion resistance, are pressed at high temperatures and have strong toughness.

  • Cable seals: Cable seals are made from galvanised, non-preformed steel cable that unravels when cut and removable only with a cutting tool. They consist of a cable that is threaded through a hole in the container door and sealed with a locking mechanism.

  • Metal Seals: A metal seal is a type of seal that is made of metal and can withstand high temperatures, pressures, corrosions and radiations. Metal seals are used in applications where other types of seals, such as rubber or plastic, are not suitable or reliable. Metal seals can be classified by their shape, material, coating and locking mechanism.

  • RFID Seals: An RFID door lock is a type of electronic lock that you access using credentials like key fobs or key cards that are powered by RFID technology. RFID (radio frequency identification) technology uses electromagnetic fields to enable communication between two devices: tags and readers. Each e-seal has a unique RFID tag which contains electronically stored information.
